NYCC Weekend!

I am going to be heading down to New York City this weekend for the annual New York Comic Con (NYCC) this weekend! I’m incredibly excited about this because it is the first comic con of any kind that I have been able to attend. I would love to get out to California for San Diego Comic Con some time in the future too, but it’s gotten so popular you have to plan out hotels and such pretty far in advance. What I think is great about these bigger cons, is that they’ve changed from very niche low key gatherings into huge media events. I’m not really a big comics fan, but I’m obviously a fan of TV as well as bunch of webcomics and of course movies and there’s plenty of those kinds of events going on!

I’m going to be at NYCC  tomorrow, Saturday Oct. 9th (if you see me, say hi!). Unfortunately this means that I won’t get to see the Robot Chicken or Nikita panels, but that’s alright because there’s tons of other exciting things going on. In particular, I plan to visit the V panel and signings – I really want to meet Morena Baccarin. James Marsters (known for playing Spike on Buffy) will be doing a signing and taking photos, and it as become my mission to get a picture with him. Additionally, Bruce Campbell (Burn Notice) is doing signings and photo ops all day, but it’s sort of expensive, so we’ll see how successful I am with that. I also plan on checking out the Doctor Who and Adult Swim booths, as well as visiting the 10 or so webcomic artists I love.

Next Monday or Tuesday I’ll be sure to post about my NYCC experiences and share any photos I was successful in acquiring. I also hope to talk about some exciting TV-related news that I was able to garner from the panels and other events. So have a good weekend, and maybe I’ll see you at the Javits Center tomorrow!
