Since it’s Friday, I’ve decided to take a break from all my ranting and raving this week to talk about one of my favorite things: fantasy TV games. I discovered this a couple of years ago and have been addicted ever since. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept, there is a website called Fafarazzi that lets you create weekly teams from characters/players on TV shows. I started playing because I like to watch America’s Next Top Model (hence forth referred to as ANTM), it’s a total guilty pleasure (I’ll post on this in the future). It was a lot of fun to pick 3 girls each week and watch to see if they earned you points. How points are awarded varies for each show.
Another fun aspect, is that you get awarded trophies for how well your teams do. The awards include top 25 and top 10 score for a specific episode, as well top 25 and top 10 for the entire season. I proud of having been awarded the top 25 overall trophy twice now; once for cycle 13 of ANTM and season 5 of The Mole (one of my all-time favorite shows). As part of the reward you can display these nifty little avatars to show everyone how well you did.
I had a team going for the season of Project Runway that ended last night, but I also have a team for the current cycle of ANTM. I did not do too well on the Project Runway game because I picked the wrong person to win, but my ANTM team is doing alright. You can make teams for non-reality shows, like Glee and The Office as well. I think I might start up a Glee team for next season. Personally, I think being able to interact with the shows is a lot of fun and keeps me excited.
DISCUSS: Have you used Fafarazzi (or similar site) to play a fantasy TV game? Do you think this enhances or hinders enjoyment of the shows?
